Earning from Adsense As already explained, the Adsense advertisements displayed by Google on your blog/webpage are determined by the content of your page. After you have been accepted into the Adsense partnership, Google gives you a line of code to add to your blog page. (This is a very simple process, and you can do it if you follow their instructions. If you find any difficulty you can check out at our blog on Adsense at www.AdsenseIndia.) Once your code in included in the blog, Google send its software to the page to read its content and determine the topic you have discussed, and to decide the kind of ads that should be called up from its database of ads. In order for your ads to be effective money earners, they have to be relevant to your blogs’ topic. Google’s software can understand your blog’s topic only if it is content-focused. The write-up/article should be centered around key words relating to your topic. The key words should form a natural part of your sentences at least once in each paragraph. It would also be a good idea to show these keywords as bold or in italics. You will have more than one page on your blog/website. It will help to have articles on each page focus on a separate keyword that relates to your main keyword. For example, if your blog is about cancer, you can have separate pages talking about a) what is cancer b) what causes cancer c) different types of cancer d) cancer diagnosis e) treatment options f) coping with terminal illness (patient) g) coping with terminal illness (dear ones) h) cancer help groups If the content of your webpage is not focused, Adsense will not be able to determine what ads should be placed on your site – there may be no ads to click on, or the ads displayed are not related to your content, and therefore your visitors may not find them interesting enough to click on.
No clicks = no Adsense revenue for you!
Format of the ads Google lets you choose the form and colour of the ads displayed on your site, from their available formats. You can also choose where to place the ads on your page. These details are clearly explained on Google’s Adsense pages. If you are posting your blog on blogspot.com (blogger.com), on the ‘Templates’ tab you will find an “Adsense” link. Clicking on this link will give you the page where you can choose the format of your ads.
Many people who are successfully making good money from Adsense suggest that there are certain formats and colour combinations and placements for ads that somehow encourage visitors to your page to click on them. One of the suggestions is to have the borders and the background colours of the ads to blend with the colours of the site itself, so that the ads do not stand out as ads but blend in with the content of the page. That said, you have to keep testing various formats, background colours, font colours, placement positions to see which combinations bring you maximum clicks and maximum revenue.
Traffic Now we come to the most important aspect of a successful Adsense program, one which determines the life or death of your earnings. Revenue comes from clicks on your ad. And clicks come only if you have targeted traffic to your site. Traffic is the source of all your income. You need to get that traffic to your site. Next : Getting Traffic
